Do you have a favorite photo of yourself as a toddler? A kindergartner?

I have a snapshot of myself that I love: my little boy haircut and a polka-dot dress, tights that are falling a bit around my ankles, and shiny black patent leather shoes. I don't know where the photo is at the moment, but I do occasionally run across it when looking through boxes in search of something else. It is just a snapshot, so it's not really enough to grab my attention if it was out on a shelf, so that cute, happy kid stays lost in the shuffle, instead of being honored for the person she grew up to be.

 As I am thinking about it in this moment, it makes me kind of sad, because it is a really adorable photo of me, and every time I find it, it makes me think of happy times growing up, and my parents, who I miss every day.

 The power of printed photography is very real. I often wonder how that portrait would have impacted me, and how I felt about myself, if it had been displayed in my childhood home, instead of stored in a box underneath old greeting cards and momentos because no one had the time to figure out, or even knew, what else could be done with it.

 If you are the parent or grandparent of a toddler or a tween, I want to make sure your child or grandchild has many! really great photos of themselves that they just love, and that they can see every day on the walls of their childhood home, and then eventually, on the walls of their adult home. I believe it is the most meaningful gift you can give to them.

We are photographing littles in the studio through February, and making it so easy for you to do something incredibly special for your child or grandchild, especially as Valentine's Day approaches. Moms and grandmas are both delighted and brought to tears when they see the magic that can happen when its just us in the studio with their very favorite person in the world.

Do this for yourself, but do it even more for them, so their childhood memories can be celebrated on the walls of their childhood home.
